Blonder Tongue Announces latest member of its Digital Collection
For cherry-picking digital off-air HDTV/SDTV programs and adding to your cable’s digital service offering.

Old Bridge, New Jersey, June 16, 2010 – Blonder Tongue Laboratories, Inc. (AMEX:BDR) today announced the latest member of its Digital Collection – MDDA-860 – to further broaden the Company’s offerings for digital applications. MDDA-860 allows service providers to select, among available signals, one digital off-air (8VSB) and/or digital cable (QAM) signal and to transcode that desired signal, which may contain several programs, into an ASI stream for further multiplexing. Similarly, MDDA-860 can be used with the Company’s QAM modulator (Model AQM) to add a multi-program digital off-air broadcast to the cable lineup in a single QAM digital channel.
MDDA-860 is expected to be available for shipping through the Company and its premier distributors in August 2010.
Product Description and Features
MDDA-860 is a micro ATSC/QAM demodulator and transcoder that receives one input in 8VSB (digital off-air) or unencrypted QAM (digital cable) format and delivers one output in ASI format. The following features are standard:
• Supports two input standards: digital off-air (8VSB) and digital cable (ITU-B QAM 64 & 256)
• Die-cast chassis offers superior protection against ingress or egress
• Demodulates and transcodes HDTV/SDTV digital signals to ASI
• Compact design allows for deployment of 12 units in 2RU
• On-site firmware updates available through front-panel
• Front-panel LED displays actual SNR and baud rate
