Data Overview

High speed data products are now considered standard equipment in our industry. Today there are more options than ever on how to provide this vital service to your customers. Blonder Tongue has developed a series of data products that are designed and intended to meet practically any application. Two CMTS solutions based on the DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Industry Specification) standard from CableLabs® as well as the DOCSIS transparent MegaPort product line are available. Installation and support packages are available as well.

Featured Product Lines:

The MegaPort product line allows service providers to extend broadband Internet access to practically any environment but is ideally suited for hospitality, institutional and multiple-dwelling system applications. The MegaPort product line consists primarily of 2 major components, the MegaPort Gateway (MPG) and the MegaPort Outlets (MPOs). The MPG is a broadband Router/Bridge that establishes a data over coax network within a building or community. A single MPG can provide access to up to 64 active MPOs and can easily be expanded by adding additional Gateways or via an optional software license upgrade for ?over-subscription? applications, great for hospitality environments where usage penetration is moderate. The MegaPort Outlet is the CPE (customer premise equipment), it acts just like a cable modem and features a unique MAC address to allow for easy activation and deactivation with the use of the supplied remote management software (MegaPort Manager). One key advantage are that the MPOs are permanently installable creating an infrastructure based solution.

CMTS Products:

The Communication Station CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System) by Blonder Tongue DOCSIS 1.0 compliant unit that is a perfectly suited for entry level, small to medium systems as well as MDU, hospitality and educational applications. Based on carrier class technology it provides 1 downstream and flexible support for from 1 to 8 upstream channels.

The Motorola BSR2000 (Broadband Services Router) CMTS, with DOCSIS 2.0 & 1.1 qualification, is the best available CMTS solution for medium sized MDU?s, hospitality and cable systems wanting next generation technology. The compact single rack height unit features 1 downstream and 4 upstream channels with an integrated upconverter. Built on the foundation of the award-winning BSR64000, it offers advanced functionality that allows cable operators to easily migrate to DOCSIS 2.0 while simultaneously increasing the performance of the existing base of DOCSIS 1.0 and 1.1 cable modems. Features like the RFSentry, consisting of a spare upstream receiver port to provide the ability to implement Advanced Spectrum Management to monitor cable modem infrastructure without impacting service performance set it apart in the marketplace.

Cable Modems:

The industry leading Motorola SURFBoard® 5101 cable modem provides next generation technology and maximizes the power of broadband. Featuring DOCSIS 2.0 certification customers will surf the Net at up to 30 Mbps ? 3 times faster than earlier modems. This makes the SB5101 the most powerful, convenient, flexible and simple to install cable modem available on the market. The SURFBoard® 5120 EMTA and wireless gateway equipped SBG900 are also available.
